On Wednesday 9th October, on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of OSA, z.s., our main partner, the launch of our new book took place at Letná in Prague. In the presence of many of the ensembles photographed, it was christened by the band Vesna, whose music mixes traditional folklore with pop.
From now on you can order it in our e-shop www.tradicevobrazech.cz/shop. Don't hesitate, the book is literally disappearing under our hands!
OSA and the musical link with folklore
The project received financial and marketing support from OSA, z.s., which plays a key role in copyright protection in the Czech Republic. "Folklore is not only about costumes and traditions, but also about music, which we wanted to bring into the project with our support," says Roman Strejček, Chairman of the Management Board of OSA, z.s. This is the second publication issued by OSA, this time on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the organisation. "Through QR codes on the panels of the exhibition and in the book Tradition in Pictures, interested parties can access an interactive website where they can find videos and other supplementary materials." Strejček also stresses the importance of copyright in folk music: "People often confuse folk songs with folk songs whose author is unknown. Even a seemingly folkloric song like Vínečko bílé has its creator, who is Fanoš Mikulecký, whose own name is František Hřebačka".
Thank you to everyone who made the book Tradition in Images from a dream a reality!
